Balzac Blend
Medium & French Roast
Origins: Sumatra, Ethiopia, and Peru
What we taste: Dark chocolate, berry, a clean finish
The Story
Our Balzac Blend is our most popular dark roast blend – and as Philadelphia’s dark roast specialists, this is high praise. This Old City Coffee favorite is named for Honoré Balzac, a 19th-century French author, who was rumored to have drunk over 40 cups of coffee a day! We’re pretty sure that is the same, if not higher, than the number of cups our entire team can drink in a day… The Mocha Java and French Roast of this blend make this a memorable brew with dark chocolate notes and a clean, fruity finish.
Balzac describes his coffee habits as providing incredible inspiration for his work in his essay titled “The Pleasures and Pains of Coffee.” We wouldn’t recommend drinking 40 cups in one day, but perhaps this blend can spark creativity in you as well!
