Reading Blend
Medium & Viennese Roast
This original Old City Coffee blend is a crowd-pleasing, full-bodied, floral and nutty everyday coffee. It is named after the Reading Terminal Market, home to two of our locations. This brew combines two roast colors, a medium and darker roast, to fully develop a rich chocolatey flavor, with a bold kick at the end.
The Coffee
Origin(s): Sul de Minas, Brazil
Process: Natural
Altitude: 950 – 1,200 m
What we taste: Dark chocolate, nutty, brown sugar, bold finish
From high elevations in Brazil’s Sul de Minas region, this naturally processed coffee grew in fertile soils and a stable climate, allowing for gradual cherry maturation, and resulting in a balanced, smooth cup. This coffee was sourced from Minasul, a cooperative based in the city of Varginha, that represents over 6,000 smallholder producers. This cooperative builds upon the traditional coffee-growing culture, while also prioritizing better quality and innovation, just like Old City Coffee. This lot is of the high SSFC grade (Strictly Soft Fine Cup), meaning the beans are denser and create a cleaner and smoother cup.
The Story
Just like the Reading Terminal Market that this blend is named after, our Reading Blend has an extensive history. This blend is an Old City Coffee original, first offered when we opened in 1985! Over its forty-year tenure, we have perfected the balance of the medium and dark roasts to create a blend that is deeply rich and flavorful. If you want a morning cup that will kick you into high gear, or simply enjoy a bolder cup, this signature blend is a must-try. We think its history, like its namesake Market, speaks for itself!
