The Story
It’s said that Mocha Java is the world’s oldest coffee blend. Nowadays we might associate ‘Mocha’ with a cafe mocha latte and chocolate, but originally, Mocha, also known as Al-Mahka, referred to a major Yemeni port that was key in the coffee trade. This blend was a combination of coffee from the Al-Mahka port and beans from the island of Java in Indonesia. This blend resulted in a complex cup, with brighter and complex notes from the African coffee and smooth, deep body of Java coffee.
You might be asking why our Mocha Java doesn’t have Yemen as an origin of the blend. Nowadays, a mocha java blend refers to a flavor profile and style of blend rather than coffee specifically from Yemen and Java. This is why you may notice that Mocha Java blends taste different from different cafes! Our medium roast Mocha Java Blend features the full body and low acidity of Indonesian coffee, mixed with sharp, wild, and bright Ethiopian and Rwandan coffees, producing a complex and well-balanced brew. You may also notice hints of berry amongst the rich flavors.
