March 22 & April 12: Classical guitarists, John Marcel Williams and Hao Yang will play a variety of music from their repertoire individually and as a duo. We'll be treated to a duo performance of “Tonadilla” by Juaquin Rodrigo.
May 17: Classical guitarist, John Marcel Williams will perform a variety of music from his repertoire.
About the Artist:
John Marcel Williams is an award-winning classical guitarist whose performances include frequent solo recitals across the United States and internationally and have been featured on NPR. He studied with Manuel Barrueco at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, where he earned his BA and MA in music performance and is continuing his studies at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia under the tutelage of Grammy award-winning artist Jason Vieaux and David Starobin.
Recent engagements include solo recitals in Panama and South America, the Elmer Bernstein Concerto for Guitar with the Wheeling Symphony Orchestra, and a recital for the Philadelphia Classical Guitar Society among others. In addition to performing he also teaches privately and is based in Philadelphia.
About the Artist:
Guitarist Hao Yang has won top prizes in numerous guitar competitions and has been invited to perform at major music festivals including the Cleveland, Panama, and Beijing International Guitar Festivals. She was a soloist with the Chusachsische Philharmonie in Germany this past winter. Ms. Yang has performed concerts in major venues such as Carnegie Hall, Kimmel Center, Miller Theatre, Princeton Sound Kitchen, and Subculture NYC. As a chamber musician, Ms. Yang has made her Carnegie Hall debut in 2015, premiering guitar duo ‘Talking Guitars’ by renowned composer Paul Lansky. As a recording artist, Ms. Yang has worked with Grammy award winning label Bridge Records Inc. multiple times.
